Meet Adam Knox, Director of Strategic Projects

Since joining in 2017, Adam Knox has worked in several roles across Bricklane and now leads the Strategic Projects team. Here we discuss his role and what it’s like working at Bricklane.

What role does your team play at Bricklane?

The Strategic Projects team focuses wherever the company needs it to. As a result, the remit can be pretty varied! We like to strike a balance between launching new initiatives and helping teams develop new functionality that lets them work more effectively.

What is the culture like at Bricklane?

The team is very welcoming – people are always happy to take time to explain what they do, why they do it and how it fits into the bigger picture.

Transparency is also fundamental to how we operate. It’s important that everyone at Bricklane knows what we’re aiming to achieve and how their brilliant work makes that possible.

What’s the most satisfying part of your role?

What I love the most is getting to work across the business, helping my colleagues build for scale and making our offering even better. It’s very rewarding to be able to do work that has a real positive impact.

The problems we solve together aren’t pure theoretical headscratchers – they directly affect how we create quality homes for people to live in. That’s why it’s so important to care about implementation as well as problem-solving. We don’t just want to know *how* we can improve renting; we want to put that knowledge into practice and see it change people’s lives.

What was Bricklane like when you first joined and what’s it like now?

I joined Bricklane six years ago, building the Acquisitions and Portfolio Management departments from the ground up. In the time I’ve been here, we’ve grown from a small team to a significantly larger one and it’s been brilliant seeing more and more people coming on board as we build out the capabilities that let us continue to grow rapidly. I’m excited to see more fantastic people join to help us build the experience renters deserve.

If you could do another job for a day, what would it be?

I’d be a park ranger. Any excuse to get out and about in the countryside is a big plus and I’d love the opportunity to drive a big car quickly down a dirt track!
